Smallest air volume: 5.600 l/s
Largest air volume: 7.500 l/s
Installation Area: Basement
The Trängkåren 6 project, located in the “SWECO House” in Stockholm, Sweden, is a renovation, reconstruction, and extension (ROT) initiative focused on upgrading the building’s ventilation system. The project spans 2023-2024 and involves the replacement of existing liquid-coupled air handling units with a new, high-efficiency rotary ventilation solution tailored for offices, shops, and gym facilities.
Innovative Ventilation Upgrades The project replaces outdated liquid-coupled air handling units with modern systems featuring rotating heat exchangers for improved heat recovery and efficiency.
Key Features of the Ventilation System:
Optimized Airflow for Different Spaces:
Four units serve offices and shops, each equipped with a combination coil for heating and cooling to maintain optimal indoor climate.
One unit supplies the garage without a heat coil in the supply air.
Centralized Control & Efficiency:
The four parallel air handling units, all with equal airflow capacity, are managed by a central control valve system for heating and cooling.
Each unit is controlled using uniform input data for supply air temperature and airflow, ensuring stability and energy efficiency.
Intelligent System Management with SKW Controller and Cloud Service:
The SKW Controller ensures precise regulation of air handling units, optimizing airflow, temperature, and energy consumption.
Through SKW Cloud Service, facility managers gain remote access to real-time system performance, allowing for monitoring, troubleshooting, and adjustments without requiring on-site intervention.
The cloud-based system stores operational data, enabling predictive maintenance and performance tracking to prevent inefficiencies and reduce downtime.
Smart Space Utilization – ‘Cake Slice’ Rotor Transport:
Due to narrow basement access, the rotary heat exchangers were delivered in modular ‘cake slice’ sections.
This method ensured that large ventilation components could be efficiently transported and assembled in the confined basement space.
Installation Challenges & Solutions
Space Constraints:
The basement area required modular transport of air handling units.
The rotors were shipped in pre-cut sections to fit through tight passages.
Energy Optimization:
The rotating heat exchangers significantly enhance energy efficiency by recovering heat from exhaust air.
The system’s heating and cooling functions are centrally regulated, reducing energy waste.
Impact of the Trängkåren 6 Ventilation Upgrade
Enhanced Indoor Air Quality for offices, shops, and gyms.
Energy-efficient heat recovery using rotary heat exchangers.
