Project description
We completed a successful renovation project at NEMO33, one of the world's deepest indoor diving facilities located in Brussels.
Nemo 33 is a unique 33-meter deep diving facility that offers training recreational diving, and serves as a film production site. The center was in need of an upgrade to their existing dehumidification system, which had become energy-inefficient.
Indoor pools like Nemo 33 require effective dehumidification and ventilation systems to maintain a healthy environment and prevent building structure damage.
Our biggest challenge was the time constraint. Nemo 33 is a popular destination, so we had to make sure that there was no downtime. We tackled the challenge of retrofitting Nemo 33's ventilation system while the facility remained operational, ensuring minimal disruption to its customers.
The new Skawen dehumidification system features a two-step #energy recuperation process that combines heat exchangers and heat pumps. This innovative solution has led to an almost 50% reduction in energy consumption for Nemo 33. The system also maintains a comfortable 30°C temperature and ensures proper air quality, creating a healthier environment for the facility's users.
Nemo 33's management was initially concerned about the investment, but after seeing the results, they are very happy with the energy savings and improved comfort levels.
Skawen's expertise and innovative solutions have helped Nemo 33 not only enhance their customers' experience but also significantly reduce their energy costs and contribute to a healthier environment.
